VALUEWASTE
‘ValueWaste was an EU funded project that proposed an integrated approach in urban biowaste upcycling for the production of high-value bio-based products, developed for the first complete solution to fully valorise biowaste that could be replicated across Europe.’
NuReSys demonstrated proof of concept for the recovery of P and N in the form of struvite from selected urban bio-waste. In the municipality of Murcia, NuReSys pilot was installed on the centrate of dewatered digestate from biowaste digestion.
CIRCULAR AGRONOMICS
Circular Agronomics was a European research project which provided a comprehensive synthesis of practical solutions to improve the Carbon (C), Nitrogen (N) and Phosphorus (P) cycling in European agro-ecosystems and related up- and down-stream processes within the value-chain of food production.
NuReSys worked on soybean processing wastewater treatment line at multiple points at a pilot scale to demonstrate:
- The use of phytase enzyme to convert phytic acid in soybean processing wastewater to orthophosphate for the recovery of struvite.
- The possibility of ‘no reagent’ production of struvite in soybean processing wastewater.
- The recovery of K-Struvite post aerobic treatment from RO concentrate.
FER-PLAY
Fer-Play advances the use and production of circular fertilisers, supporting Europe in its transformation to a more circular and resource-independent economy while safeguarding ecosystem health. The project includes multi-assessment of alternative fertilisers for promoting local sustainable value chains and clean ecosystems.
bioSOILUTIONS
bioSoilutions project is a Horizon Europe innovation project that strives to tackle soil degradation. The focus lies in optimizing four different biowaste valorization routes to develop advanced soil improvers. By working directly with stakeholders in real settings, SOILUTIONS Living Labs will demonstrate the effectiveness of at least five bio-waste soil improvers in soil recovery as a sustainable and cost-effective alternative to synthetic products, in line with current EU priorities.
GreenTile is responsible for 2 of the biowaste valorisation routes which produce feedstock as N-Struvite and K-Struvite. The goal is to produce and test in lab and in field ‘value added’ struvite soil improvers with addition of insect frass and blood hydrolysate provided by other consortium members. These soil improvers will be applied to different soil and climate conditions in Flanders, Valencia and Murcia.
